Self Care Sunday.... in Search of Yoga and other things

Welcome to the first Sunday of the new year, and a new installment for Self Care Sunday... Today is about my search for a beginning yoga class along with the list I promised for Sacred Spaces.

First things first. The list.

Altar cloth, this is something that you place in your sacred space on your altar or you could hang it on your wall if you decide not to have an altar.

Altar, a table or small desk, this could vary in size, depending on how large your sacred space is. You don’t want it to take over your space, you want it to be part of your four points of centering (don’t read too far ahead into this)

Comfy pillows… this is an option, depending on the size of your altar. These can be part of your space.

Candles. Whatever tradition you practice, candles are always a needed addition. Whether it be for sensory fulfillment, aromatherapy, or just plain illumination needs, candles are an essential need in a sacred space. Add link to Bath and Body Works candles.

Essential Oils and Diffusers, this is strictly a preference, and on a sensory level. For me, I find that having a diffuser with some lavender oil calms my nerves, especially if I’ve had a hard day and I’m having a difficult time trying to wind down and center myself.

Now, the search for a yoga class. For something that sounds so simple, finding a yoga class that fit my needs was quite difficult. Everyone was telling me that there was one at my gym. Nope. That's a quick fix stretching class with thin knowledge of the tenets of yoga. If you are going to be serious about yoga, you certainly don't need someone trying to teach you who does not know about yoga. I don't know about yoga, but I do know that I don't want it taught to me by someone who was just trained to fill chain store gym's class. Yoga, to me, is a mind, body and spirit type of class.Yesterday, wile sick in bed with the flu, I spent time searching the internet for local yoga classes and information about them. There is a lot, at least in my part of the country. I live in the Sacramento Valley, yet you may live in the hills of Kentucky, and I doubt you'll find a large selection of yogi's in your area. I could be wrong. I am still in the midst of doing my homework for finding a proper yoga class and community.... still searching.
