Hello November...

November 9th of 2003 was the day I rediscovered scrapbooking, and a whole new world opened up to me. In October my grandmother had sent me a box of old photos that I had no idea what I was going to do with. The first week of November I had surgery and was unable to drive for a couple of weeks. One night I sent David out to pick up a couple of magazines to keep me occupied, he returned with my two favorites, Vogue and In Style, and another one.... Creating Keepsakes. My husband figured it might help me figure out what to do with the pictures I had just got. Haha... I guess I can thank my husband for starting this whole paper crafting scrapbooking obsession.

How did you get started? When I first started I was totally clueless at how to cut my photos, if at all, what papers to use, to use photo corners or to not, 12x12 of 8.5x11 album... So I looked online, and there I found answers, along with a whole community of scrapbooking friends on Scrapbook Village and The Scrapbooking Divas, there I met ladies that I am still friends with today. I also found a local scrapbook store, and The Scrapbook Sorority. Where have you found community in the crafting world. There was no Facebook when I started, and I was still trying to navigate MySpace... yes, MySpace... LOL.

It's been a long wild ride, 16 years, and I've met some incredible women, I've learned so much, and paper crafting has become my passion. It's been my therapy, creating both for myself and for others (when I create cards and gift scrapbooks.) It's also led to the creation of Altered Whimseys, my first creative brand... then in June of 2018 I launched The Duchess of Sassy Town. Still working on this brand, and taking my time. I know it's not going to happen overnight. Branding takes time and patience. While now I am not selling anything, just asking people to listen to my podcast. Along with this whole journey I have learned to be an encourager to others.

Right now I'm in the process of trying to encourage myself, getting out of a funk I've been in pretty much this whole Fall season. Working on making the podcast better, doing my homework and getting ideas from others to give you, my listeners, I great podcast to encourage and enlighten you (on great crafty news). I haven't been putting out a podcast consistently, and the last one, let's be honest, I pretty much threw it together at the last minute just to put something out there... you deserve more.... so today I'm working til the wee hours on research, I'm crafting and I'm going to give you a podcast you deserve. It may take a few weeks, so be patient. Also, please drop me a line with a suggestion or two, or three. I'm always open to new ideas, even old ideas... So stay tuned, and enjoy my earlier podcasts if you already haven't.
