Do you ever find that you are your own worst critic? Do you ever find yourself talking yourself out of things that would bring you joy for fear of risk? Do you listen to the negative in your head more than the positive? Your self-talk IS your worst enemy when it comes to keeping you down. Most of it comes from dysfunctional learned behaviors that you never really addressed. You just thought it was, well, you. Well it's not YOU, it's whoever and whatever taught you that negative self-talk. Professionally I'm not here to counsel you, I don't have a degree, what I have is YEARS of experience when it comes to self-talk and self-care.
Think of this... Monday has notoriously been known to be a horrid day. A day we all loathe for some reason or another. The thing is, we've all fallen into this mindset that no matter what happens, Monday is gonna suck! That is exactly what negative self-talk is. We tell ourselves we are afraid, we are ugly, we aren't good enough... and you know what, we will continue to hide out of fear, we will not take that next step of going for what we want because we don't believe we're good enough, and ladies... you are all beautiful, inside and out, no matter what shape, color, or what role you play in life. Attack Monday like 'BITE ME MONDAY! YOU'RE GONNA ROCK!'. Attack your negative self talk in the same way.
How do I do this? I have just recently returned to journaling on a daily basis. It has helped with my negative self talk of 'you never finish anything, and you aren't good at writing... .. I write down everything that comes out of my brain, negative self-talk included, and I counter it with positive affirmations as well as a plan to make my negatives positive.
For example.... I journaled the other day that I'm not writing enough, and frustrated that I'll never get the readership numbers up for my blog, and all the work I've done is for naught... well I turned it around and made a plan of writing every day, I made a plan of daily subjects and ideas to write about. You see where I'm going with this...? I hope so....
My first suggestion is to journal every day, second is to list all your good... to counter the bad. Then list the bad self-talk you need to address.
You're welcome
