A few years back Ali Edwards started a project called 'One Little Word', calling on us to choose a word for the new year to help us grow and also challenge us. Last year I started following planner designer and inspirational You-Tuber Cori Spieker, you might recognize her as The Reset Girl. Last night Cori held her annual Vision Board Party live broadcast on You Tube, as always it was full of heartfelt advice about setting goals, stepping out of your comfort zone when choosing your word, and sharing her own vision board building. It was a fun night last night.
So, do you have a word? One that will challenge you this year? Or did you just choose a word that everyone else did, just because it sounded nice or that you want to be part of the 'group'... Be you, not them. That's my mantra, always will be. Like Cori said in her video, a statement that struck a chord in me... she told us to find a word that is out of your comfort zone, to find one that is not in our character. Me? I chose FREE.... why? The last two years I have been a prisoner in my own body, fighting one health challenge after another, surviving a major cardiac arrest and then subsequent open heart surgery. Just last August I had a major accident which totaled my car and I am still recovering from. I've had to surrender my driver's license because the reason of the accident is that I blacked out for ten seconds. Ten seconds was all it took. So in 2018 I am going to reclaim being FREE, free to live again, free to create, free to say no when I need to, free to take better care of myself both mentally and physically, free to find my own path in my own time, free to be a better friend, a better daughter, a better sister, a better wife. FREE to be me,
