Self Care when Christmas gets away from you...

Last week I posted that I had it all together. I lied. Rather I think I was trying to be the hopeless optimistic in thinking just that. Trying to put on the facade. Admit it, we all do this. Try to be the one who does it all... the shopping done all before the first of December, Christmas cookies for the shut ins, all your cards hand made, hand addressed and in the mail the 5th of December, the tree and house decorated Home and Garden style the day after Thanksgiving... yah..... unless you don’t sleep, I am not that person, no matter how much I want to be, I am not that person. Now it is Christmas Eve, the packages are wrapped and under the tree, well the ones for David at least, the family ones that need to go up the hill tomorrow morning still need to be wrapped, and we still need to shop for stuff to bring for Christmas at the cousins. We're not perfect. Before we know it Christmas can get away from us and we forget what we're doing and why we're doing it. So take a step back, put down the spatula and take off the apron... breathe. The world is not going to end if you don't make four dozen chocolate macaroon cookies. Take a moment for yourself, it is ok.... really, it is. Tonight the sun will set. and those of us who celebrate Christmas  will feel the pull of the manger, will feel the calm of the night stars of so many years ago.... Merry Christmas.
